Overview
Today's meeting will address survey and student achievement data and review our progress on the AdvancED Standards and agency Improvement Goals. We will also hear from Stephanie Bernthal on the newly-developed Security and Crisis Management Plan and from Dennis, Ben, and Becky who participated in the Joplin Public Schools (Missouri) NNNC Trip.

    • Review the overall scores on our self-assessment in addition to the comments on the three narrative questions.

2. Standards (ongoing review, recommendations for improvement) 9:45am
  • Review and discuss the Indicators for your group's Standard. Rate our current level of performance according to the rubric for each indicator.
  • What is going well?
  • Where do we need to improve?
  • As a table group review responses from 1a and complete Discussion 2 for your assigned Standard.
  • Whole group discussion.

3. Vision & Direction/Goals (annual review) 10:30am
  • Our Purpose Statement identifies WHY we exist.
    Current Purpose Statement: ESU #17 is committed to partnering with its schools by providing support and resources to enhance teaching and learning. (May 1, 2007, affirmed May 18, 2012)

  • Our Mission Statement explains HOW we will accomplish our Purpose.
    Current Mission Statement (Board Policy): The mission of ESU #17 is to provide innovation, leadership and services for each member school district so they are successful in reaching their targeted educational goals. (Board Policy Article 1, Section 1B, August 11, 2009) This Mission is based on Nebraska Revised Statute 79-1204-2-C.

  • Our Vision Statement describes WHAT we are aspiring to become.
    Current Vision Statement: ESU #17 will become a collaborative community addressing the academic, social, emotional, physical, and professional development needs of our stakeholders. We aspire to support overall student learning through continuous improvement and innovative practices in education. (January 4, 2011, revised February 3, 2012)

  • Review the current Purpose, Mission, and Vision statements for relevancy. Has anything changed in the educational landscape or in our own demographics that should be considered?

4. Student Assessment Data (analysis) 11:15am
  • MAP, NeSA, and ACT performance data
    Use these questions to guide your analysis of the data:
    1. How did students perform at the individual grade levels?
    2. Are there any concerns about performance at any of the grades?
    3. Are students making progress? Adequate progress? What trends are noticeable?
    4. How does student performance compare across subgroups?
    5. What questions do you have that may require analyzing additional data?
    6. What can/should the ESU do to support student learning?
